I was told that we could have champagne and desert outdoor, facing the sea. I thot that was COOL. After making our way to the outdoor seats, the champagne came,


and.... the roses came.



OMG. And he was kneeling there, waiting for me to say YES.

Honestly, I din want him to spend too much on the ring. But this ring from Tiffany & Co. is really what I dreamed of!

This is a bit backdated... haha... I forgot to share abt the yummy food that we went for Mother's Day celebration. It's an impromptu decision to go Gyu-Kaku. Something that my mum will like. Well, it's Mother's Day.

Seafood set: Fresh Salmon, Prawns, Sotong and Big odourless oysters!

Meat set: 3 different cut of beef, Pork and Duck Meat. Seriously, if u are a meat-eater, this is something u can't give a pass.

so we bbq on these grills... the waiters have very good service. They will come around the table every 15-20min to change a clean grill for us.



Even the (garlic) rice tastes so good.

Our set comes with 3 deserts... The thoughtful waiter gave us 2 complimentary deserts. Yummy!

On the all, the food is superb, service is excellent. Though the price is slightly steeper, it's worth it. We spend about $300+ for the above spread. Highly recommended.

昨晚在看《老鼠爱上猫》，里头蛮多欠扁问答题。印象比较深的是：

Sometimes it really irritates me when things don't go the way I wanted them to. I hate it when I have to put myself into other people's shoes. So why can't you put yourself in my shoes then? I am so used to thinking for others first, and especially when I don't really feel appreciated, it can be soooo tiring. You can't blame me for being unhappy. How can I be happy tolerating with things that I don't like. Haven't I been putting up enough? Can't I live the way I want? Can't I do the things I like?

So I know, THAT'S LIFE. Doing things that you don't enjoy. Tolerating people that pissed you off.

Sometimes I really hope that I am living on an island ALONE. No one to irritate me, nothing to worry about. Of course, that's not possible. I am not rich enough to own an island. Oh no... think I am becoming a LONER soon.

双层巴士底层的后车厢通常会有两排面对面的长形座椅。
这天我乘搭了31号的双层巴士，在长形的座椅上找到了位子。这几天的天气实在太热了。我一手握着身旁的扶把，maintaining my balance，另一手移动我正上方的冷气孔。突然有人将我握着扶把的手大力甩开，我失去了平衡，差点儿跌下来。原来是坐在我身旁的大婶要按铃下车。Auntie，难道你连 excuse me 也不会说？眼看我就要跌倒了，她一点歉意也没有！

我从车站步行回家，有点儿尿急。
走向电梯时，看见一个老伯，他身旁放了很多的塑胶袋，应该是刚买菜回来。他一见我便提起地上的袋子走进电梯。我也随他进了电梯。怎料到，他背对我，站在正中央。这下好了，我既出不去，也按不到电梯的按钮。我鼓起勇气问：“Ah Pek，几楼？”
老伯没有说话，只是举起手，好象表示等一下。我不敢也不能动。过了好一分钟，才看见老伯的妻子走进电梯。怎么会有这么自私的人。我们一共有3台电梯，你要等人，难道就不能等下一辆吗？我在一旁憋尿都快憋死了。

和 Royston 一起去 Old Airport Rd 吃晚餐。那里价廉物美，选择多。唯一不好的是车多 Carpark 却又少又窄。我们在车上准备离去，因为是 1-way traffic, haiz，连转个弯也的排队。
有个 couple 在我们不远处拉来拉去，推来推去，还推向马路。Royston 担心会撞倒他们，便按了喇叭，想 warn 他们一下。那男人却老羞成怒，回敬我们一个中指。你们想打情骂俏就回家慢慢的玩，撞倒你们可是司机的错。这是个文明的社会，动不动就指中指，真是不应该。

在家有在家的痛苦。
母亲大人说我在家里，她很烦，每天要想煮什么给我吃。重点：我并不想吃！如果我吐真言，定会遭到母亲大人的一番责骂。Haiz... 平时工作忙碌，没什么时间和朋友聚聚。所以我乘机在外找节目，陪朋友吃午餐、逛街。

今天，我约了慧莲吃午餐。到 City Hall 时看到很多 SAJC 的学生。我想起，SA 每年都会到 St. Andrews Cathedral。看到他们让我想起在 SA 时的美丽时光。当时，我们因为有同样的兴趣而经常混在一起。我们一起演戏，一起唱歌，一起打麻将，一起大喝大吃……如今我与 SA 的那帮猪朋狗友已经没有联络了。不过，我仍想念他们。知道他们安然无恙，甚至知道他们之中还有人在追求自己的理想　(雄：开舞蹈学校；Edwin: 写歌、教吉他；俊杰：歌手），这已让我感到安慰。

Tampines 又开了一个新的 shopping mall. 真的很 happening! But it's really 人山人海。人实在太多，我只能走马看花。其中有些吸引我的有 Say Cheeze (Restaurant) 的 Lychee Cheese cake (Yummy!)、日本的 T-shirt 专卖店和日本的零食专卖店。等热潮过后，我一定要再重返 Tampines One Mall。

前两年因为《蔷薇之恋》而辗转让阿桑以《叶子》一首歌红了起来。阿桑才34岁，却得了癌症。今日不知明日事。天妒英才，天妒红颜。难道真是人太聪明，人太漂亮，连老天爷都妒嫉？

我与母亲大人闲聊中打趣的说，人不需要太聪明，也不需要太漂亮，平平就好。

眼见 4 月将近，惊觉整个 3 月连一个 entry 也没有。
朋友、同事都埋怨我，问我为什么没有 update 我的 blog，还以为我人间蒸发了。感谢那些关心我和一直在追看我 blog 的朋友。

3 月在忙什么呢？念书、找工。
原本的计划看似很完美：4 月辞工，服满一个月的 notice period 至 5 月，能有 3 个星期来准备 6 月的考试，之后才开始找工作。Haiz，是我考虑的不够周详，在新年前便告知母亲大人 4 月将辞职的决定，As usual， 老人家的观念是忍一忍，现在行情很坏，很难找工作。以至母亲大人在新年拜年时大肆宣布，搞得无人不知，在整个拜年的活动中，我不断地得到了长辈的“关心”和“意见”。其实离职的原因有很多，只是向来我行我素的我不想多做解释。不过，我确实有点担心考完试后找不到工作。于是，我开始把 resume 寄出去，没想到 reply 比我想象中来的快。

Intro
阿公 refers to my mum's dad here.
From young, we know 阿公 comes from Malaysia, a place called 四湾岛. Only recent years then I realized that this place is actually at Johor, Pengerang. Many of my cousins have not been to 四湾岛 or have no recollection of the place at all. I've been trying to organize trips to 四湾 with some of my cousin but it failed. I'm surprised when most of them turned up on 15 Feb'09.




Our 1st stop - 阿祖's tomb

It's Chinese culture to go 扫墓 during 清明节. Since 阿祖's tomb is in Malaysia, most of us have never been there before. My mum came up with the "brilliant" idea - to go 阿祖's tomb together. If you ask me to use a word to describe this place, it would be "DISASTROUS". 阿祖 is buried on a mountain. There's no beautiful scenery, only withered yellow grasses and scorching sun! But of course, no one dare to give much comments since it's our ancestor, we've to give our respects.




Main Objective
After a long walk, many were regretting coming to the trip honestly. For me, I was more looking forward to the restaurant... hehe... 四湾 is a place full of lobsters. Lobsters is of course our 主菜.


Other than lobsters, I like 山猪肉 as well. These are the things you usually don't eat in Singapore. I saw ostrich meat on the menu too, maybe we should try it the next time round.






Wa Si 连泰 e Cha Bo Qia
This joke will probably last a decade. I remember the very 1st time when I went to 四湾 with my parents & my younger sis, it was to attend a wedding dinner. My mum was bringing us around, proudly showing us her hometown. The funny thing is that she knows almost everyone there. She was going into shops, telling them that she is "连泰 e cha bo qia" (Lian Tai's daughter). My dad was commenting jokingly that we should rent a pick-up and a loud hailer for mum to “答谢选民” (thank her voters). Haha.. so you can imagine my mum going ard like a MP saying hi to everyone.

Apparently, according to my dad, 阿公 is quite a person there. He was the 校董 of the only school in that area - 育本学校. He owned this shop-house and build the 2nd level himself.

Haha... we din study there. My cousins were exclaiming 我的“母校”when they see the school. "母校" it's 我母亲的学校. This is the school that I was talking abt just now. It's a small village, so there's only 1 school. When I first came to 四湾 for wedding dinner, the dinner was held at the school's basketball court. In fact, all dinner is held here. In memberance of our dad & mums, we took a "class photo" at the basketball court.


Ending
This also marks an end to our 四湾岛 exclursion.
Jiaxun is going back to Australia and we probably wun be seeing him till next year's holidays. Hope this will be a memorable , if not happy exclursion for him. As for the rest, guess I don't have to put in much efforts for the next trip, all I have to do is to set a date/time and I guess they would turn up at the ferry terminal. Hopefully Ah San will be able to join us the next time round.

I'm seriously pissed off with Golden Village online booking system, it's high time for GV to re-look into their system.

I'm supposed to be watching The Curious Case of Benjamin Button with Royston, Jo & Yin Yin on Valentine's Day. We're so looking forward to the show. Royston even took a nap just to prepare himself for the night. Who knows, GV says we have NO reservation. After ding dong here, ding dong there, they finally found out that our booking is 13 Feb instead!

This actually what happen during CNY eve when I brought my younger sis to watch Twilight. I remember clearly that I clicked on the date first, then cinema, then movie timing. Unless I do the other way round (movie --> cinema --> date), i couldn't be wrong. Having trust for GV for all these yrs, I didn't even check on the confirmation e-mail. GV insisted that it's my fault & I have to pay double to watch the show. But we were still lucky, cos we manage to watch the show.

The gang was not so lucky on Valentine's Day. There's no more tickets and we end up not watching any show. What a let down.

今年过年真是过得有点急，只不过过个年就喘得半死，累得半死。So if u din see me updating my blog, that's becos' I'm too busy. 好友和表弟乘澳洲放假时赶回国过年，刚好又碰到美丽的堂姐回新办婚事，真是忙死了。

转眼已经是February ，快要考 CFA了，只accomplish 不到 ½ of the readings。糟糕。
公司无端端也来凑一脚，搞个什么试，弄得人仰马翻。

So，朋友们放过我吧！我不能出国、不能去Party、没有空(大概也没有心情）看电影、更没空追看电视剧。我最多只能陪你喝喝茶，吃吃饭， ok?

All because of Alicia, 我们找到了相聚的借口。

Really impressed by Ivan, he could actually coordinate with everyone. 除了JZ外，the rest 都出现了。Ha ha... Appreciate his efforts. Thanks, Ivan!

又是一个“吃”的Gathering。这次选在Shokudo @ Raffles City ，我觉得是个 good choice （whoever tat suggest this place, kudos to you!)Shokudo 就像是个 Japanese 的 Marche。工作繁忙让我很久没有explore good food 了。只怕如此下去，我很快便要与世界脱节。还好不时有与朋友聚餐，才能够尝到美食。

我们大部分的人都在工作了，少了运动的动力和时间，大家脸上有明显的baby fats ，不然他们的长相都没什么变。其实我的这群朋友个个都郎才女貌，就是不明白，为什么个个都不结婚。
有人说：“结婚很多事情要做，很琐碎。”
有人说：“结婚要花很多钱，我没钱。”
有人说：“我的colleague去honeymoon被axed。”

从小就很 outstanding 的医生姐姐带着她的医生老公回新补办婚礼。有可能因为老公是老外，又或者是喝的洋墨水多了，婚礼没繁文缛节：没有gate crash，也没有过大礼，等等之类，只是在Hotel有敬茶的仪式。依照惯例，我们也要向姐姐和“新”姐夫敬茶，面对一个老外，那“姐夫”的称呼有点“难以启齿”，我不晓得他是否听得懂。我觉得叫Matthew反而会亲切一点。

婚礼的重点不是菜色。原来拍全家福才是压轴。因为有几个cousin 长期住在国外，好几年没有拍全家福。这次除了Chloe外，全家到齐，我们真是拍的不亦乐乎。只可惜我们so far只有两个姐姐结婚，没有侄儿侄女，不然会更热闹！

每一年我的亲戚都会在初一到我家来拜年。往年的惯例是到我家 Karaoke 。可是，他们最爱的娱乐并不是大家的最佳享受。今年，我私自做了个决定……

姨丈：来来来，快点儿开 Karaoke !
我：没有 Karaoke 。
姨丈：为什么!?!
我 (innocently)：坏了。

So 没有 Karaoke，那么 what should we do? hee hee...
去年，Royston 买了一台 Wii 给我 as birthday present。It's definitely the most entertaining present! haha....



Wii 还真是神奇。Age doesn't matter，Size 也 doesn't matter!

每一年，我们都会到NTUC去办年货。今年值得一提的是，虽然我们买了接近$200的年货，不过我们连一个塑胶袋也没拿。妈妈向来讲究环保。不知从何开始，妈妈喜欢带着环保袋上超市。我们一共用了5个环保袋才将全部货品搬回家。

家里不要的信件，全都变成妈妈多功能的“小小垃圾桶”，她会将A4 size 的纸张折成一个四方形的小碗状，适合丢鱼骨头和小纸张。如果有小朋友来访，也不用担心他们在吃饼干时，会将饼碎撒满地，只要给他们一个“小小垃圾桶”就行了。

最夸张的是，妈妈最近发现了在我们家附近有个地方为了推广环保，可以用不要的塑胶瓶来换取米粉！真是前所未闻。妈妈当然是非常支持。

希望有多些环保的活动，让新加坡人更了解和爱惜地球。

“Wah...周董终于要来新加坡了啊？而且要在新加坡庆生!”

之前听933电台说唱片公司在Dragonfly为周杰伦开一个庆功派对。没想到原来周董本尊并没来。唱片公司准备了一只周杰伦预碌的VCR和他的MV首播。公司也借此举办了最新的DVD的预购。一个没有寿星公的生日派对，我还是头一回听说。相信也只有像周杰伦这种巨星才有如此的排场。

My darling sister queued for Bak Kwa at 金品香 for 5 hours today! OMG!
Looks like Singapore is not really affected by the bad market, there are still so many people queueing for Bak Kwa. Initially I thought the price of the Bak Kwa will be lowered or the people buying Bak Kwa will be lesser. My guess was obviously wrong. The price is still around the same and the queue is still so long. What's more? According to my sister, people on the queue are buying around 10kg/person, walking out of the shop with many big paperbags. My poor sister had to stand under the sun for 5 hours just to buy 3kg of Bak Kwa. I think she deserve 5 BEE stamps.... haha....

Another place Singaporeans like to queue during CNY is probably the bank. The new notes practically run out just 1 hour after the branch open. Singaporeans are changing hundreds or even thousands of new notes for CNY. I really wonder if they really give so many or such "big" hong bao. The best part is customer comes to bank and make a din at the banking hall when there's not enough notes to go around. What's the point of scolding the bank staff when they are not the one that's responsible for printing the new notes. People, pls 放我们一马吧！

４人认识了12年，第一次一起出国。去哪里，不重要，重要是跟谁去。我们一起尝试了很多的第一次……




放烟花



It's our 1st time. Wat an experience! 美芝姐姐在 Batam Centre Shopping 看到有卖烟花，问我们要不要买。当然要！哈哈……不过，因为没有经验，we dunno what to do。结果搞了半天才成功把烟花放上天。真是美翻了！就在我们在沙摊上乱成一团时，却听到背后有人在叫我们。残了！有一个Security Guard走向我们。原来，Batam 并不是哪里都能放烟花的，我们在 resort 的海边是不能放烟花的，*SOB*。还好，at least 我们有放过。

Alicia 真是 one dangerous driver 。Every min is $12。蛮好玩的。只是玩完以后有人被 Engine 烫到，有人 complain 手痛、手酸，有人是腰酸背痛。You know who you are.

按摸
按了1½ 小时，只还 Rp100,000 (S$13.60)。这种好康在新加坡哪里找？！只不过，平时爱 Massage 的　Lian 不知搞什么，频频出状况，先是 complain Masseur 不够力，换了个人却好像点到了笑穴，笑声不断，让我们哭笑不得。

其他的点滴

讲明了是个relaxing tour ，所以没有什么计划，想做什么就做什么。就连逛Supermarket 也很开心，买了一堆的东西。正当我愁着没新年衣时，在 Batam 买到a S$36-dress，大年初一有着落了！我们的 Batam trip 在我们提着一袋一袋的东西上船后结束。

看到君伟's blog 的《武夷山：朱熹纪念馆》， ，对于文中的“接物之要”有很深的体会。

记得在念小学时，我买了一份礼物送给好朋友。小时候真是很好笑。你有我也想有，喜欢的不过是拆礼物的过程和拥有过的感觉。结果，我买了一份一模一样的礼物给自己，还把两份礼物都包起来。不知怎么搞的，我却在包礼物时错手在其中一个礼物的盒上留下一个凹。我很自然地想：“好的给自己，凹的给她好了。”爸爸知道后，谴责了我一番：“哪有人送礼是送坏的？”我依稀记得，我还反驳爸爸说：“只是盒子坏了，礼物没坏。”爸爸不以为然，说：“自己不要得东西，怎么能给别人呢？”

事过境迁，我已忘了买的是什么礼物；礼物是给谁的。留在脑里的只有“己所不欲，勿施于人”。我就是在这种教育下长大。

很久没有看到 Alicia，好想念在一起的时光。我们从14岁，念中二时便认识。老朋友见面，想笑就笑，想大声说话就大声说话，无需大鱼大肉，无需贵重礼物，要的是一份真心和一份心意。也没有特别的节目，只是闲聊，吃 Alicia 精心准备的晚餐和甜点，看了《小娘惹》和 Alicia 的 photo album，玩了我们的fav game —— 大老二，惯例是一定要玩到 Alicia 的分牌才能停。Alan 常说认识久了就会变成生活化。其实，我跟Lian, Xian 和 Alicia 早已经是一种生活化的态度，最重要是自然和舒服。

老伯：你是新加坡人吗?
Fenfen: 是。（要不然？）
老伯：对不起，对不起。你看起来很像……
（Fenfen: 像什么?)

老伯：你住这里吗？住很久了吗?

Fenfen: 这里没有25楼，最高16楼而已。

TAXI
Bad experiences. I always tell the driver where I want to go and I want to go on meter before I board the car. I was even more sure of this rule after 1 incident during the last trip, when a taxi quoted me 150 baht from MBK to Airport. Of course, I din agree, and finally got onto a taxi charging by meter which only reads 78 baht when it reached the destination.

This time I wanted to go MBK from Asia. Normally we walk (it's walking distance). A taxi driver approaches me, so I thought "nvm loh, give you business". He quoted me 20 baht only. Really 高兴得太早, I should know that 天下没有白吃的午餐. After we boarded the taxi, he wanted to bring us to some souvenir shops before going to MBK. We negotiate but in the end, 一拍两散。I decided not to take the cab and walk to MBK instead.

TRAFFIC
Worse than I imagine. Many places do not have a proper traffic lights control. As long as you can squeeze through, you can use watever ways you want.

POLLUTION
Traffic is bad and pollution is bad too. My face is ruined TOTALLY. I can really 体会 what is 灰头土脸. I really thought of wearing a mask on road. No kidding.

WHERE? >>> Fuji Japanese Restaurant
When I 1st ate @ Fuji, think they only have an outlet @ MBK. I was with my whole family then. We ordered a table full of food and nearly had problem finishing the food. But it's so cheap & tasty!

Now, you can see Fuji @ many places, such as Platinum Fashion Mall, Siam Discovery Center, Central World...

Dun be afraid to voice out your unhappiness if the nails are not done to your liking, tell them and they will wipe off & re-do it.

Because they dun have a nail parlor. Go to hair salon to get your nails done. Avoid going to massage parlor.

不需要去 Chatuchak Market　。那里又热又远又有weekend 才有。I rather go somewhere with air-con and it's nearer...

The fish is superb! Personally, I love the thai way of steaming the fish - the garlic + chilli + lime. It brings out the freshness and sweetness of the fish. The fish is then put on a metal tray with fire underneath. Wow..

Watch Out>>>
There are many 黑店 around．I would strongly recommend you to go SOMBUN @ CHULA 8 (it's at National Stadium, near MBK). Cheap and Good.

记得我曾告诉 Alan，communicate 简单来说就是，当你说时，我有在听；当我说时，你也有在听。如果我讲，你没有在听，而你讲时，我却一定的听，那叫哪门子的 communicate? 那应该是强逼，是命令。

今天我有新的领悟。我讲时，你不听。你讲时，我也可以不听，就当你在放屁。话不投机，还真是半句多。

Mich： 老板，我2月要请假。
老板：不行，给我一个好理由。
Mich：我要结婚了。
老板：你 sure 吗？要为了一颗树放弃一森林……

一直想去尝试之前《抢摊大行动》抢救的西餐，当时师傅教了摊主一道很特别的 Pork Cutlet 。

What so good? >>>
它不是普通的猪扒。香脆的外表，内有乾坤，除了猪扒外，肉中还夹着 ham and cheese 。我本来就好爱吃猪扒、ham 和 cheese 。不过，只有吃过猪扒 with cheese 和 ham and cheese，从没吃过 3 in 1 。
老板很用心，火候刚刚好，外表完全看不出任何蛛丝马迹，一刀切下去，cheese 就开始流出来，不过又不会“一流无法收拾”，好兴奋喔！真是吃了还想再吃

What it missed? >>>
比一般的猪扒来的小了一点，而且以 coffee shop 的标准，价钱偏高(＄6)。
摊名取为 Prosperity Recipe 五福XXX ，真是俗得吓了我一跳，还以为找错了地方。

普普通通的酒楼内，传出阵阵的欢呼声和笑声。

姑婆和姑丈公在酒楼庆祝七十大寿。虽然姑婆已70岁，她却非常in。败妈妈所赐，我是午餐的司仪。姑婆给了我节目的流程，竟然全是用电脑打的！姑婆不止会上网，有一次，她还问我妈家里有没有 webcam ，原来她是为了和远在韩国的泉玲阿姨通话才有了 MSN 户口，学会了用 webcam。以前我曾试过教爸爸用internet banking，我只能说——失败。如今，姑婆是个active internet banking user！

菜色是普通了点，不过好在能和家人团聚。大部分的欢呼和笑声应该来自我们这几个“活泼”的孩子。Haha... 我们实在太捣蛋了，因为不想被“陷害”上台唱歌，也想搞搞气氛，别人唱歌，我们就充场，又拍掌又起哄。 Haha...一顿饭吃下来，真是忙死了。

食物真是棒！
通常结婚晚宴的水准都不怎么样，可是昨天晚上在Conrad Hotel吃的真是不错。结婚晚宴吃 Ostrich Steak ，昨晚是我的第一次。我们10人吃12人的份，不亦乐乎。尤其到了上鲍鱼时，我毫不客气的have a 2nd helping。Yummy!

Scenario: It's raining heavily outside. Staff crowding in the pantry, waiting for meeting to start... Boss walked in and announced that meeting is postphoned to the next day.

KC: Hey, it's no longer raining.
Tracy: Oh, so no more dogs & cats? only rats?
