Interesting Logic Quiz

We are having our routine breakfast, and J & I each come up with an interesting logic quiz... and it keeps me thinking....

You wanted to buy a dress, which cost $97. But you ran out of money, so you borrowed from your parents $50 each, ie $100. After paying for the dress, you got back $3. You paid back $1 to your Dad, and $1 to your Mum, keeping the remaining $1. Now, you owe your Dad and Mum $49 each. Adding up, $49+$49+$1=$99. Where did the remaining $1 go?
